Week 14 (2nd - 6th February)

 Monday 2nd February

Spoke to the External Examiner about the course this morning. And then spent the rest of the day in studio testing colour palettes for the ident following the blue and orange theme. I know Maggie said she wanted it to me midday but I though it was worth exploring different times of day too because that palette lends itself well to sunsets and night - though I do think the daytime one works the best. Chalk pastel is very fun for concept; note for future use, use the smoother side for smoother blending

Tuesday 3rd February

Colour palettes were well received by the team. Next up is to try and make a compromise mix of daytime but still with a little bit of that orange sunset, using Bysiak's composition. Think the next ones will be digital since it'll only be minor variations. I also need to experiment with matte painting over Alex's backgrounds to mimic the Slime Rancher style references. We also got our full beatboards done that morning

Thursday 5th February

3D in the morning. 3D animation did NOT go well for me because I was far too ambitious. "Animation is just matching the poses of the reference video right, how hard can it be?" I was not qualified to animate a BACKFLIP. I didn't realise I would have to manually flip the model around body part at a time so it's not a smooth flip, body parts are breaking

Had WildChild meeting in the afternoon. They seem to like it so far, but we need to establish a consistent style and make everything a bit softer

Aiming to familiarise ourselves with Storyboard Pro to all use for the storyboards. We want to have our first animatic pass done by the next WildChild meeting
