Week 11 (1st-5th December)

 Not as much new progress this week. This week has been primarily focused on completing my research poster and my assessment video. There was a lot more I had hoped to complete by this stage, including a mockup model of the Inventor for my poster and for a photogrammetry test, as well as further 3D work including Blender trials and retopology of my Tails model. But alas. 

Current plan is to complete as much of the assessment video as I currently can, and then try and get some additional practical work done and inserted last minute once the rest is done. Because while Sean said it's ok for me to mostly have research at this stage (and I do have a lot of it to include) I really wanted more visuals and I feel bad about the lack of any practical outcome

I did manage to get a quick Machine sketch done, black paper looks more sinister. I'd wanted to do full illustrations of story beats for this assessment video but I ran out of time




Friday

  • Write script for assessment video
  • Quickly get a screenshot of the brief retopology work I did before uni shuts 
  • Get 3D and life drawing sections recorded and complete as they are complete for now. IF I were to find any time for further 3D work it can be tacked onto the end
  • At work all night (til 2am) so no time to work later and will need to sleep in
Saturday 
  • Get the poster complete with what I have. Ignore the idea of including concept art and custom visuals, just get it done and out of the way 
  • Continue working on assessment video, priority. Try and get it mostly complete 
Sunday 
  • Ideally at a point where the video is mostly complete and I can do some more practical work to tack on! 


Over Christmas break:
  • More concept art!! Character and environment designs
  • Continue refining the story. Can ask friends/peers for feedback 
  • Work with Freyja on storyboards. Dunno if I'll have a full animatic coming back but would like boards and story nearly done 
  • Aardman Academy stop motion course
  • Blender experiments 
  • Potentially go into uni after assessment to continue Tails model (see how far I get with retopology without Phil's help)
  • Visit House of Automata for research and observational drawing while I'm home
REMEMBER TO TAKE A BREAK TOO! Work on some personal projects!

Week 4 (13th-17th October)

Tuesday 14th October Didn't manage to get anything done the past few days, was at my two jobs. Mental health day, was struggling and needed a break. I might have to call it on the MAKE Fund application, realistically I won't be able to get all of my pre-production complete in only a few weeks. Ah well, maybe another opportunity will come along Wednesday 15th October I've decided to focus on the anti-AI theme as my research proposal rather than the idea of integrating a 2D workflow. Week 15 (9th-13th February)

Monday 9th More concepts. Mostly exploring the H3LPR 2.0 concept, where H3LPR is just in different iterations representing the different iterations of AI Started exploring a bit of environment design as well with the underground workshop and the furnace power source. I want dramatic and dangerous red lighting with this furnace Interesting ideas from feedback to explore. Susan suggested making The Inventor claymation because he's the only organic thing there, whereas everything else is crafted/scultped. I do really like implementing the animation medium AS a storytelling method, that's why I'm doing stop motion in the first place, so I'm VERY tempted to explore this! I know from previous experience that I struggled to not smush elements like clothes, so I might see about having only his head and hands be clay and the rest of his clothes still be textiles? Feedback from Semester 1: Detailed thematic direction for the project and strong visual imagination with engaging sketches. Clearer articulation of design choices would strengthen the conceptual foundation Deeper research of AI and clearer integration into the narrative world.
