Week 5 (20th-24th October)

Monday 20th October Working on some environment concepts finally. A fun drawinb exercise of drawing a random shape and then turning it into a unique house design. Then I copied and printed the page to physically make a collage of the houses, to figure out the way the Machine could assemble them. I later made a second version with the leftover pieces Sean posted about a postgraduate Rotary Club Bursary of £5000, that would REALLY help me! Pay for my own Dragonframe license and camera as a long term investment and exploration with industry standard materials (and pay my tuition fees...) Tuesday 21st October  Useful lecture on scriptwriting and making a treatment, I need to write out a clearer story and it gave me a few interesting things to think about Presented ideas. People seem to be on board with the concept of the creature stealing pieces of the buildings. Sean said he'd look in to finding a filming space and a Dragonframe license for Semester 2. Sean suggested I could make a tr...

Week 4 (13th-17th October)

Tuesday 14th October Didn't manage to get anything done the past few days, was at my two jobs. Mental health day, was struggling and needed a break. I might have to call it on the MAKE Fund application, realistically I won't be able to get all of my pre-production complete in only a few weeks. Ah well, maybe another opportunity will come along Wednesday 15th October I've decided to focus on the anti-AI theme as my research proposal rather than the idea of integrating a 2D workflow. The hybrid 2D workflow is a very interesting research direction that I will plan to explore in future, but I feel it's too ambitious and too far removed from what I originally wanted to do with my film which was to express my frustrations with the rise of AI.  I have also decided to focus my R&D in Practice module research on AI instead of stop motion, as I am REALLY struggling to find any academic articles on stop motion and it ties directly into the themes of the film. If I were to disp...

Monday 6th October Working on my project rationale and goals for the year ahead. Aiming to put together a presentation of my current ideas, goals and concerns for Sean for tomorrow's tutorial session. I don't have time to finalise a plot but I would at least like to have a summary and some aesthetics. I'll be hoping to leave tomorrow with a clear direction of where to start/go next I discovered the MAKE Animation Thesis Fund, it's open to international students too. I really want to apply so I could win some budget and publicity to keep this short film going, but that means the deadline for pre-production is in November! One month to get a script and all of my pre-production done?? Extremely ambitious, especially as a solo artist, but it gives me a sooner deadline to work towards Tuesday 7th October Had my first individual tutorial with Sean. He really likes my project and film idea which is encouraging. The proposed project is to create an anti-ai short film protesting...
